Freediving Courses

The one-day AIDA1 Freediver Course is designed to be an introduction to freediving, suitable for the complete beginner. It helps you to develop the basic skills, knowledge and safety procedures necessary to enjoy freediving safely and within the limits of your experience. This course is for recreational freediving only.

To enrol you must be at least 18 years of age (16 with permission of parents or guardians) and able to swim at least 100m non-stop without fins and snorkel.

The goal of the AIDA2 Freediver Course is to allow you to gain a good understanding of freediving. Through the duck dive, finning technique and equalisation, you will learn all basic skills, step by step. Many freediving novices are concerned about numbers, such as minutes of breath hold or depth of a dive in order to become a certified freediver. In fact, the numbers show that you have mastered the basic skills and thus meters and seconds are not the primary concern.

To enrol in the AIDA2 Course you must be at least 18 years of age (16 with permission of parents or guardians), able to swim at least 200m non-stop without fins and at least 300m non-stop with mask, fins and snorkel. The AIDA2 Course is designed for beginners with no previous experience in freediving. It is not required to have completed the AIDA1 Course. This course is run over two full days.

The AIDA 1 and AIDA 2 courses give a detailed introduction to modern freediving. These courses focus mainly on safety by learning and applying a sound freediving technique. If you have understood and were able to apply these fundamental freedive-skills, the required performances for your AIDA 1 & 2 certifications were safely in your reach, without extra training, and certainly without stretching your personal limits. The AIDA 3 course takes you one step beyond. You learn how to train as a freediver and bring your freediving to the next level, beyond the basics. Systematically and safely you will expand your capabilities as a freediver to an advanced level.

To enrol in the AIDA3 Course you must be at least 18 years of age (16 with permission of parents or guardians) and have completed the AIDA2 Freediver course or passed AIDA Crossover Evaluation. This course is run over three full days.
